'Paint The Park' is an annual 'Plein Air' Painting Competition which takes place in Stanley Park, Blackpool.

  • FREE PARKING is available at the SPORTS CENTRE car park (see map below).
  • BOOKING IN takes place in the visitor centre at - [Editable Time]

Directions to the Park

By Car

The Park is situated south-east of Blackpool Town Centre, adjacent to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
It is flanked by North Park Drive, East Park Drive (A587) and South Park Drive. Follow the tourist signs off Junction 4, M55.
The main gate is on West Park Drive opposite the junction to Mere Road.

Limited Car Parking adjacent to the café and along the main drive.
Overflow parking at Blackpool Sports Centre.

By Foot

A nice 20-minute walk from the Town Centre along Hornby Road, cross the junction at Whitegate Drive and take the fork along Mere Road to the main gate.

By Bus

Blackpool Transport buses to the Park run from April until the beginning of November.
Route 18 from Queen Street in the Town Centre stops at Stanley Park Main Gates.

Paint the Park Terms and Conditions

“PAINT THE PARK” – Saturday 4 July 2026

The HUB for the event will be at The Visitor Centre (No. 2 on the map).

  • On the day, booking in will be at the HUB at 9.30am, when canvas, paper or board must be stamped by a steward to confirm that it is blank.
  • More than one canvas, paper or board may be stamped, but only one may be entered for judging.
  • Each competing artist must have completed an entry form and paid the £15 entry fee by Saturday 4 July 2026, prior to painting beginning.
  • Artists must be over 18 years of age on entry.
  • Each competing artist must provide and be responsible for their own equipment and belongings on the day.
  • Please dress appropriately for outdoor painting, taking the weather into consideration.
  • Avoid setting up on a road, entrance, or too close to the edge of the lake.
  • Park vehicles may require access at times, so please be aware and give them precedence.
  • Many animals live in Stanley Park and all competitors must respect them and not interfere with them in any way.
  • Please ensure that visitors to the park can access all pathways and entrances, and store belongings carefully so they do not cause a hazard.
  • Various sports take place in the park. Please respect athletes and do not hinder their activities.
  • Areas not accessible for this event are:
    • The Sports Centre complex
    • The Model Village
    • Cricket Ground
    • Golf Course and Club House
  • Refreshments can be found both at the HUB and in the Art Deco Café (No. 3 on the map).
  • Toilets are available by the HUB / Bowling Greens.
  • By entering and taking part in this event, artists agree to being photographed and to images being used in publicity.
  • Artists must bring their one chosen piece of artwork to the HUB by 4.00pm or earlier.
  • Judging will take place at approximately 4.15pm – 4.30pm by the judge, a professional artist.
  • The winner and runner-up will be announced and the prize-giving will take place at the HUB.
